Universities often host decisive events and seminars for students. However, on a number of occasions, attendance at these types of events was lower than what administrators expected.

Why?

The answer lies in the fact that the events were announced only by the prospectuses hanging on the bulletin boards – not necessarily seen by everyone. This situation is not unusual.

The paper-based systems used to announce these events are not always effective:

  • Students miss events. It is vital that students have a positive view of their university, and these events help foster that image. If students are unaware of these events, universities lose the opportunity to foster positive perceptions.
  • The organizers are disappointed or dissatisfied with the low turnout. This could seriously impede the university’s chances of encouraging participation in future programs.
  • Monetary loss. Once the total cost is established ( catering, hiring organizers, renting the premises, etc. ), it is obvious that the holding of events is expensive. A low participation rate means that a lot of money has not been used to achieve desired outcomes and goals.
  • Ineffective use of employee time. Printing paper notifications, posting them on campus – a particularly painful task in cold Canadian weather – and getting low turnout is an inefficient use of employee time.
  • Loss of a good PR opportunity. Imagine the total value that would result from a full room or a filled auditorium. Students, especially in our current era of social media, share good experiences.
  • Security and legal concern . There may be important news about the university or a policy change that students need to be aware of. If students do not receive the information, there can be adverse consequences to their progress.

Ricoh can help your programs succeed

Ricoh loves education and knows how to excel schools. With our digital solutions, students can be kept informed of relevant events. So we can:
